GTA V not good enough for Wii U release?

We’re sure you have watched the sole GTA V trailer numerous times now and if you have, you may be aware that Rockstar failed to mention which specific platforms their highly anticipated game will be coming to.
It’s obvious that the game will be coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 when it does arrive, but after seeing a triple AAA game like Assassin’s Creed III land on the Wii U – is there any possibility that Nintendo could land another massive game in GTA V?
If you have been clinging on to this hope for a while, we have some disappointing news to bring you now, as Take-Two’s CEO has seemingly suggested that they won’t be offering any of their ‘core’ titles on Nintendo’s new console. The key word when they talked to GamaSutra about Take-Two bringing core titles to the Wii U was ‘skeptical’, as the publisher isn’t convinced that the Wii U would be able to attract a core audience to suit their more mature-rated games – ie, the Max Payne and the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
CEO Strauss Zelnick did however maintain that Take-Two will be supporting the Wii U in a variety of sports and other casual-based games – so it isn’t a complete lack of titles from the publisher. Is this a big blow though for those looking to buy the Wii U later this year, after hearing that a publisher as massive as Take-Two will probably not be bringing the likes of GTA to the system?
It’s a bit of a shame in our opinion, as Nintendo has made a big effort to make their new console comply with the current requirements that developers need to develop big titles, and as we mentioned above, Assassin’s Creed III is a prime example. Ubisoft’s upcoming game looks just as good on Wii U, if not even better than the other platforms shown, so the best way for Wii U to attract a core audience again is for big name publishers like Take Two to bring their big guns to the system.
